The chosen article is Two Cheers for Consumerism by James Twitchell. In this article he talks about consumerism, mercantilism and materialism. It supports the position of consumers and the role they live every day. On the other hand, critics, the Academy, provide consumers with a general description of their consumers. Twitchell's statement in the article is that materialism is highly judged by the consumer, especially the Academy. One of his questions is: "The really interesting question may not be why we are so materialistic, but why are we unwilling to recognize and explore what seems like the central feature of modern life?" (365 Twichell). State your point and thesis of your argument in this short question. He wants the reader to think about this statement so he can further explain his response. He stated that “consumption has become production,” (367 Twitchell) that consumers' demands for the product give a sense of what they want or need leading the producer to satisfy this need.
