Human Computer InterfaceIntroduction============HCI stands for Human Computer Interface or Human Computer Interaction.HCI is the study of how users of computers use them to complete activities in the environment in which they will ultimately be used. Each of these is specific to each task, an HCI cannot be designed for just one set of users for one set of tasks and then simply expect a different set of users to respond the same way to a similar set of tasks in the same HCI. When designing an HCI system it is important to consider how users will interact with computing devices and the system being created. It is important to consider all aspects, including the tasks to be completed, the technology that will be used (eginput/output), how they will interact with the system, and the environment in which users will use the system. Within HCI the designer needs to bring all these elements together to match the technology with the users and the environment so that it is possible to create the right system for the users. Areas of HCI ============ Users ----- There are many different types of users, these are listed below:* Business users* Using systems for a particular use to be used with the specific company* Personal users* Using systems for personal use across a more diverse spectrum, e.g. Internet, word processing, desktop publishing* Disabled users (mental and physical)* Physical disabilities, e.g. one arm, one eye, etc.* Mental disabilities* Tourists* Language barrier* Different cultural issues* Different levels of user expertise* Expert
