Topic > The Influence of Color on Human Behavior - 2234

Research into how the color of lighting in a room affects human behavior has had a significant history in the field of psychology. Colors fill the world. Whether we realize it or not, color has a significant influence on human behavior, especially the color red. According to Maier, Barchfeld, Elliot & Pekrun (2009), children showed preferences for the color red over green while in a hospitable and friendly environment. This finding can be interpreted as if the color red conveys a happier mood to humans or even children under the age of two. However, there was one study that showed opposite results to the research above. Elliot, Maier, Moller, Friedman, and Meinhardt (2007) reported that red is expected to impair performance on several types of goal achievement tasks because the color red implies threats of failure and therefore causes anxiety. The two previous studies reported above showed relatively opposite results, thus leaving a trail of doubts for the psychologist in investigating the real effects of color on human emotions. If the study is deemed successful, it could bring a huge benefit to educators and employers as by controlling the color of the environment, the productivity of students and employees in both studies and work can be maximized. Emotion is a response to stimuli. Bänziger, Granjean, and Scherer (2009) stated that the adequacy of the overall pattern of bodily and behavioral changes as an adaptive response to a relevant situation refers to the emotional production competence that allows the organism to successfully cope with its consequences. On the other hand, Moller, Maier, and Elliot (2009) reported that reds, blues, greens, and yellows have a significant association that holds direct implications for psychology... the focus of the article...liot , A. , & Pekrun, R.
