In “Effects of Social Media on College Students,” research explains how social media impacts the daily lives of college students. In the study, participants were given an anonymous questionnaire about the effects of social media and their university life. Many of the questions and answers alluded to negative aspects. Especially in academic terms, its tendency to increase considerable distractions. Furthermore, let reality live to immerse yourself in a virtual zone for hours of the day. An extensive analysis within the study addressed whether college students check social media during class and while doing homework. The results show that “ninety percent of students dedicate their time to entertainment; there weren't many college students who preferred to use social media to do their homework. Eighty percent of the sample admitted to posting or replying while completing homework” (Chen, Liang, Wang, 2011). Essentially, most college students prefer to use social media and, in turn, spend many hours checking these sites. Facebook tended to be the most popular used in and out of the classroom. The attraction to social media is that it provides a new world for making friends and new connections. Social media takes the pressure off immediately.
