More than thirty-five political leaders have been assassinated since 1825. The assassin and the political leader had different beliefs and different ways of thinking that the government should be run. Some think that murder is the wrong choice to make when it comes to differences in beliefs. There are many reasons why people have different thoughts and actions on controversial topics. Many people believe that killing is the wrong choice because it goes against our legal system and leads to social and political chaos. Finally, murder is never justified on the basis of religious beliefs. First, one of the reasons many people believe that assassination is wrong is because it goes against our legal system. Abraham Lincoln survived many crises as our leader, such as creating American goals and dealing with the worst war in US history by ending slavery while the US was divided in a civil war are just some of his great challenges. “At 10:22 p.m., a shot rang out in the crowded Ford Theater. Booth, one of the best-known actors of the time, had shot the president from the back of the presidential box” (Holzer). The assassination of Abraham Lincoln is an example of how killing is illegal. John Wilkes Booth, the person who killed Lincoln, was subsequently shot by a soldier a few hours later as he was trying to escape. As one of the greatest achievers of all time, his death is also considered one of the greatest murders. Not only is killing another man against US law, but it is also more difficult to confront and assassinate the leader of our country. Known as the youngest and most popular president in our history, John F. Kennedy accomplished a lot in his short time in office. On November 22, 1963, as he crossed… the middle of paper… spirit and selflessness after his burial. “King and local leaders also organized marches in white neighborhoods. But angry whites in these segregated communities threw bottles and rocks at protesters” (Garrow). In all reality these political leaders had followers who believed in everything they did, what they believed and who they were. Murder is the wrong choice to make when it comes to differences in beliefs. The first reason murder is wrong is because it goes against our legal system. Second, the death of political leaders causes political and social chaos. Finally, murder is not justified based on religious belief. In William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Brutus was not justified in killing Caesar. There are many for this, but the most obvious reason is because Caesar is a good guy. After his death he left his money and his gardens to the people.
