Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain is her story that she wrote about during the Great War otherwise known as the First World War. The main theme of her story is the struggles she faced, whether it involved her family, her personal goals such as attending college, or the world she was surrounded by. On page 17 Brittain stated that "When the Great War broke out, it presented itself to me not as a superlative tragedy, but as an interruption of the most exasperating kind to my personal plans." Another important aspect of Vera's goals was the aspiration and ambition she had, that aspiration allowed her to move forward in her life. In chapter 3, Vera mentions that at first it was difficult for her to see how this war could impact her life. , Vera said on page 94 that she knew very little about the meaning of the war because she knew little about the true meaning of the war. This of course would quickly change as the city he lived in began preparing for war. When the Great War broke out and the consequences were felt in England, Vera's goals and dreams were becoming more of a dream than a reality. It must be said that although the war brought many challenges, it was Vera's ambition that kept her going and that ambition kept her mind in the right place during many triangulations. When the Great War broke out her brother postponed his education to serve in the army for the good cause, it can be said that Verda saw this as a humble gesture which pushed her to complete a one-year course, which gave her the ability to help people by becoming a Red Cross nurse. It must be said that although Verda became a Red Cross nurse, she did not find the job unpleasant, yet her ambition did not fall... middle of the paper... hopes never abandoned her just as her ambition accompanied her until the end. Although I must confess that I have not read the entire book, I must say that what I read was heavy stuff, I must say that Vrea was a strong woman who did not seek her own selfish path, but rather focused on others as well. After doing some research, I realized that during the post-war period Vera continued to fight what she believed in, whether it was the workers' party or the women's movement. Some may consider this book biased, but I consider this book a true, well-written story of a woman who fought and never gave up. A story that actually used his journal entry implemented into the chapters. The author gave the reader the opportunity to see how hard her life was and how she withstood everything that came her way, in a way this book is an inspiration not only for women but rather for everyone us..
