Over the course of his narrative, Meursault's character develops from the first to the second part, emerging from an indecisive and emotionless person to an existential character who ultimately accepts his death. “Counting Stars,” by One Republic, was not inspired or created with the purpose of describing Meursault. However, with a deeper analysis of the lyrics, it is possible to find a relationship between the meaning of the lyrics and Meursault's unique character.
