Imagine a rape drug that causes sterilization. According to unconfirmed sources, this drug already exists. Progesterex allows men to sexually abuse women without the fear of them becoming pregnant. Therefore, the man's identity is never known. He committed the perfect crime. If the above statements seem unlikely to be true, that's because they are actually false. Progesterex is not the perfect rape drug. It is the subject of an urban legend. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the term urban legend as “an often lurid story or anecdote based on rumor and widely held to be true.” Like most urban legends, the rationale for its creation may never be known. The setting of the story is a nightclub or frat party. Such locations are places where women were previously raped after unknowingly spiking their drinks. So, a reasonable idea might be to remind women of the dangers of the social scene. Whatever the logic, the story lacks the necessary elements to be believable. The absence of a source name and confirmed origin calls into question the validity of the story. Reliable sources deny that the drug is used in the places mentioned in the various stories. For example, ""Circulated primarily in the United Kingdom in April 2006, Progesterex (sometimes known as Progestorex) is a fictional date rape drug. The British press has repeatedly published corrective articles asserting the non-existence of Progesterex, quoting government officials such as Home Secretary Paul Goggins as saying “Progesterex does not exist” (Papadopoulos, 34-39). The Progesterex urban legend first appeared in 1999. The story initially emerged as a warning message... mid-newspaper... f becoming a rape victim is scary for women. Most women consider motherhood a long-awaited event. It would be cruel to eliminate this experience because of a date rape drug.
