Sex education should be offered in public schools Sex can be traced back to Adam and Eve, the first two people on this planet. Today, all age groups deal with things related to sex, but it's not a problem that affects everyone. The problem that has arisen for more than thirty years is: is it appropriate to offer sexual education courses in public schools? (1.Teaching Fear; 1996) The reason this debate has arisen over the years is because there are many different opinions on the topic. Children today are facing problems at a much earlier age than in years past. There must be a way to reach children before they need help so badly and have no clue about the devastating problems around them. Sex education is a step in the right direction when it comes to the health of our children and ensuring a strong future. Although some people disagree with the idea of sex education classes, in the public school system, the majority seems to favor it. On the other hand, some people agree with the idea of sex education, but feel that the problem lies more with how it is taught, rather than being totally against the idea. Those who are against classroom sex education think that all the classes would do is create more problems. They are unsure of the outcome, whether or not this would cause students to be more or less likely to engage in sexual activity and relationships. (2.Keen, Cathy.
