Kurzweil's view of this thought is positive because he believes that artificial intelligence is the future, unlike Carr who thinks negatively because we are currently rotating our minds too much actions around technology. Carr believes that technology affects everything around us, including our daily lives. He also claims that we are on the way to having artificial intelligence. Kurzweil's theory of artificial intelligence will go much further by stating that “the rate of technological change will not be limited to human mental speeds. Artificial intelligence will improve its capabilities in a feedback loop that unaided human intelligence will not be able to follow” (Kurzweil 470). Therefore explaining that artificially intelligent machines will only be able to improve themselves making it impossible for humans to follow them, thus changing the way the world is. Further stating that “nanobots will interact with biological neurons to greatly extend the human experience by creating virtual reality from within the nervous system” (Kurzweil 471). Carr agrees more from the current perspective that the Internet is becoming artificially intelligent and discusses how Google's founders “often talk about their desire to turn their search engine into an artificial intelligence, a machine similar to HAL that could be directly connected to our brain” (Carr 116). Which is linked to Kurzweil's theory but only from a current point of view. Kurzweil also believes that through the Singularity machines will be able to help humans in such a simple way. Although Carr's article is in agreement with Kurzweil's theory, Carr himself does not believe that the revolution in technology is a good thing, he simply agrees that we are moving towards artificial intelligence.
