Over the course of our lives, humans tend to become so familiar with daily routines that when an unexplained accident occurs, we panic and are ultimately unprepared; it's probably something we've never been exposed to. Tragic examples of this are the killing of innocent people we care for in environments where safety and education are supposed to be the priority. In our eyes, campuses are protected by those who wear uniforms and are trained professionals ready to deal with such situations, so why allow a law that grants any civilian the right to bear arms on campus, while letting them choose when to use lethal force? and afflict innocent students who fear for their lives? I say this should not be allowed because there is conclusive evidence explaining why firearms on college campuses are a misconception. On the contrary, however, there are still those who think differently, such as the national organization Students for Concealed Carry (SCC) who proudly believe that the right to bear arms is a constitutional right, rather than a simple privilege, using the second amendment as an implementation of this statement. In their essay titled "Why Our Campuses Are No Safer Without Hidden Guns" the organization tries to make a compelling case by presenting the idea that by allowing concealed handgun laws on college campuses, the shooter may or may not be stopped, but that this event “should not be the determining factor in whether or not it is allowed on college campuses” (647). In the eyes of those who are part of Students for Concealed Carry, concealed handgun owners tend to be people who work well with the law and say that guns would not create any change in the educational environment... middle of paper .. .After laying out all the facts related to the topic of firearms coming into play with education, we can conclude that both are simply not associated with each other and that it is obvious that the opposing spectators who support such a statement refuse to see the facts truth about the dangerous situations they intend to put the students through. College students face enough stress during their college life, so let's not contribute to that stress; instead we should all allow them to live a more peaceful life in a less stressful environment. We must all unite to ban this law and continue to research the causes of such tragedies, implement more security measures than incite violence, but above all let's think about those innocent students wandering the college corridors and how we can incorporate a better security system for them and also for future students.
