The Kite RunnerNo one can believe that the innocent activity of kite flying could ever lead to betrayal and ultimately redemption, and yet, in the novel The Kite Runner kites, Hosseini manages to repair the behavior of a man journeyed through betrayal and, finally, towards his redemption. In this novel you will see many acts of betrayal between enemies, loved ones, and strangers. When you do something wrong and you know you shouldn't have done it you feel guilty, right? Well, the same goes for Amir, at least for his guilt. Amir saw Hassan being raped and did nothing to stop it. The summer after Hassan's painful misfortune, Amir and Hassan spend less and less time together and no longer play outside as much as they used to, so when Amir asked Hassan, “What would you do if I hit you with this? " [pomegranate] (92) we can all deduce that Amir wants Hassan to hit him, so he feels like he got paid for not helping Hassan the previous winter, but it turns out that Hassan simply let him throw countless pomegranates, at finally Hassan gets up, takes a pomegranate, walks towards Amir and crushes it against his forehead. “Here” he croaked “Are you satisfied?” (92) Afterwards Amir was ashamed and burst into tears; moment had a choice to make: convince Ali and Hassan to move in by any means necessary Baba betrays Ali, Amir and Hassan with his unfaithful decision to have an affair and reinforces Hassan's right to know the truth about his parents, Baba. does not pursue a strong bond with Hassan because of his regretful actions, Baba is truly disappointed in both of his sons 'Hazara, Sanaubar, he... middle of paper... takes it with maturity instead of letting someone else clean up his mess. I also didn't think she would have to come back into Hassan's life after all those years; Hassan had a family of her own and she comes into his life asking for forgiveness and wanting to be a part of his life when she had the chance, but she chose to leave. The only one who redeemed himself was Amir. Amir found Hassan's son; Sohrab and helped him get the reward Assef needed after what he had done to Hassan that winter many years ago. Even though Hassan and his wife are dead and they don't get to be a part of their son's life, and see what life Sohrab has, at least he did well in the end instead of leaving "what ifs" and questions of uncertainty in people's minds. Deep down, I think Amir wanted to do something that winter, but in reality he was too afraid to defend a Hazara.
