In my proposal plan I recommend reducing the average wait time at each cafeteria food station, especially during peak hours, e.g. during lunch and dinner it rushes. We can help reduce time by having servers prepare pre-portioned dishes so students can grab and go instead of waiting in line more than thirty minutes for cold food. We can also add different food options that serve different options because from now on the food lines operate on a schedule with the same food options every week. Another recommendation would be to expand the canteen as a whole. Howard University currently has about 10,000 undergraduate students and the cafeteria can barely accommodate 800 of them comfortably. This will also lead to better organization of lines in the cafeteria to reduce confusion. Howard students have been complaining about the bar for some time now. Speaking with upperclassmen who had prior knowledge of the topic, they observed that the bar is most inefficient between 11:30-1:00 pm and 6:30-9:00 pm. However, breakfast doesn't have the same kind of rush as lunch and dinner. The long queues are due to the fact that there is not enough help from the staff, for example the classic line is manned by only two people, and the vegetarian line does not have a single waiter. The salad bar is often kept empty and is not restocked until a student has to bring it to the attention of a cafe employee. The lack of open spaces in the school limits students to constantly eat in the same places. Also, on weekends, only one restaurant, the Blackburn Café, is open, although it closes early. This limits students to eating in the same place, even when the main cafe barely changes their menu....... middle of paper... sustenance is quite arbitrary. Just waiting in long lines and being greeted by unfriendly workers who serve them their food is less than up to par with anything McDonald's would serve to its customers. This is something that needs to be changed in the university and my proposal does exactly that. The university needs another canteen to relieve the stress of the Blackburn canteen and at the same time get workers on some sort of hospitality course, allowing students a friendly environment to eat in. However, campus lunch is suggested to be healthy and nutritious, it is actually worse than fast food. Finally, convincing incoming students about the variety of restaurants and markets on campus, freshmen are told that they have an assortment of eateries and restaurants to eat at, but in reality they are limited to two main coffee shops and a few chains on Georgia Avenue..
